Our July Symposium: How to Create a Play Space at Home

Writer's picture: Julia KallmesJulia Kallmes

Later this month, we will host our inaugural Symposium--or interactive class--for parents and caretakers of young children.

What: How to Create a Play Space at Home

When: Tuesday, July 19th from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Where: In the Family Resource Center

Childcare will be provided for children ages 2 and up. Children who are too young for the childcare option can be brought along to the class.

Why This Topic?

Through our Montessori training and years of experience as lead guides, we learned a lot about how to cultivate an environment that promotes independence and engagement. With fairly simple solutions, parents can foster the same skills at home, liberating themselves from constantly cleaning toy explosions that engulf all living spaces and fielding unending declarations of "I'm bored!" from their children.

Our Agenda

  • Introductions

  • What problems are we trying to mitigate?

  • Reflections

  • Step 1: Choosing a location

  • Step 2: Ensuring safety

  • Step 3: Incorporating child-sized furniture

  • Step 4: Rotating quality materials

  • Step 5: Staying organized with storage

  • Bonus: Gross motor opportunities and books

Interested?

If you would like to attend, please RSVP before July 12th.
